Doug has worn the uniform for more than 24 years, deployed and asked to perform under conditions most people will never have to imagine. He answered every call. What he brought home wasn't just experience — it was the service members to the left and the right of him. What came home with him was scar tissue, some of it physical, most of it not.

In 2023, his heart failed him — literally. He found himself fighting for something he had always taken for granted: his own heartbeat. A few years later, he went through a heartbreak that tested him in ways he could never imagine and during a time he least expected it while transitioning from the service to civilian life. And underneath all of it sat PTSD, depression, and anxiety — the quiet, ongoing battles that don't end just because his service does.

He didn't just survive those chapters. He rebuilt. Doug became a small business owner and entrepreneur, betting on himself when it would have been easier to fold. Doug found his footing again on ultra-marathons and mountain trails, turning endurance into medicine. Running 50 and 100 miles at a time taught him something combat never fully could: that the body and the mind can do far more than the darkest moments convince you they can.

Now he’s taking the next step — literally, to the top of the world.
