more than a climb.
it’s a second chance.
One mountain. One mission. A second chance to make it count.
Summit of Second Chances is my journey from heart failure and hardship to the summit of Mount Everest.
Over the next 20-24 months, I’ll train, climb, and ultimately attempt Everest in 2028—not simply to stand on top of the world, but to turn my second chance into something bigger than myself.
Through this journey, I’m raising awareness and funds for organizations that support veterans still fighting battles of their own.
Climbing Mount Everest isn't about proving I can do something extreme. It's about proving — to myself, and to every veteran, every heart patient, every person who's been knocked down by something they didn't choose — that their worst days aren’t the end of the story.
I am climbing because my heart gave me a second chance, and I intend to use it standing on top of the world.
Join the journey. Be part of the summit.
vision.
A future where veterans and survivors of invisible wounds — combat trauma, heart disease, heartbreak, depression, and anxiety — are met with the same resources, community, and belief in their strength that carried them through their darkest moments, so that no one fights their hardest battle alone.
mission.
To climb Mount Everest as a 24-year combat veteran and heart failure survivor, raising $350,000 to fund the climb and to invest directly into veteran-focused organizations — turning survival into resources, hope, and mental health support for the veteran community — and to document the full journey in a memoir that reminds other veterans and survivors that recovery and resilience are possible.
the cause.
Every dollar raised beyond the actual cost of the climb goes directly to veteran organizations.
Veteran-focused organizations play a critical role in supporting those who have sacrificed in service to our country, especially when the uniform comes off and a different set of challenges begins. These organizations provide resources for mental and physical health, recovery, financial hardship, family support, education, and the difficult transition back into civilian life. Fundraising allows them to reach more veterans, expand their programs, and provide help when and where it is needed most. Summit of Second Chances is about more than reaching the top of a mountain—it is about using the climb to help give other veterans the opportunity to overcome their own mountains.
